Panthers defenseman takes a run at Leafs forward after the whistle, injures him and gets away with it
The Leafs are entrenched in an ever-important Game 4 tonight against the Florida Panthers and while they are currently owners of a 1-0 lead, the game is a tightly contested affair with a lot of body contact.
The game has been mostly pretty clean, but during the second period, Panthers defenseman Radko Gudas took a run at Leafs forward David Kampf who was skating along the wall after the whistle. Instead of pulling up, Gudas followed through and levelled Kampf anyway.
What made Leafs Nation furious is that Gudas got away with the hit and was not assessed a penalty for interference, boarding or charging, despite the ability to make an argument for any of the 3. Kampf left the game shortly thereafter, likely to go through concussion protocol.
To add insult to injury, the Leafs were assessed a penalty in an unrelated play in the same sequence. Absolutely brutal.
***Update*** Kampf has since returned to the game, thankfully.
