Pending UFA and possible rental Dylan Larkin lets his preference be known ahead of the deadline
Four weeks from now, we'll witness pure unbridled chaos when trade deadline day arrives. Teams will be on the clock to make their final roster moves ahead of the playoffs and for contending teams like the Leafs, Bruins and Lightning, a big addition could be the difference between an early summer and a long run.
One of the lesser talked about names on the market is pending UFA and Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin, who will have a chance to test the free agent market for the first time in his NHL career this summer. The big questions are; what does Larkin want and where does he want to be?
Well, Larkin himself addressed the the question of where he wants to be this week. Larkin told ESPN's Greg Wyshynski this week that he still sees himself as a Red Wing. He also admitted that there are plenty of negotiations ahead and that contract negotiations often don't go smoothly.
As far as contract demands, Ansar Khan has reported that there is still a gap between what Larkin wants and what the Wings are willing to offer. Larkin sees himself as a $9M player, while the Wings are reportedly much more comfortable in the $8M AAV range.
