It's no secret that there was no love lost between Phil Kessel and the media during his time with the Leafs. Not only did Kessel butt heads with reporters on a number of occasions, but the veteran winger has not been able to let it go, even after a trio of Stanley Cup wins.

While Kessel hadn't played a game for Vegas since Round 1 of the playoffs, his team dug deep and banded together to pull off a solid run this year, culminating in a 9-3 win over the Florida Panthers to down the Cats in 5 games and win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. Following the big win, Kessel was one of the players who ended up being interviewed on the ice. He is often viewed as a man of few words, but on this night, Kessel made sure that those words included a shot at the media in Toronto.

"Takes me back to my Toronto days. You guys said I couldn't win, and now I'm a three-time champ. Remember that." - Kessel on being a 3-time champ

Kessel won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017 shortly after being traded there by the Leafs. Now, he's got a third ring to add to his collection and while it might seem like Kessel is being a little petty, what he said wasn't untrue either. During his time in Toronto, Kessel was labeled a player that they couldn't win with. Kessel is just reminding the media that they don't know as much as they think they do.
