After a painful to-watch game one of Leafs vs. Tampa that saw Michael Bunting ejected for a hit against Erik Cernak in the second period, Leafs fans finally got answers regarding Bunting's scheduled hearing with player safety this afternoon.
Earlier today, Jon Cooper announced that Cernak would be out of Game 2, which contributed to the decision of a three-game suspension for Bunting despite having no previous record of such behaviour.
This suspension comes only two days after a similar situation happened during game one of the Wild vs. Stars when a questionable hit from Matt Dumba forced Joe Pavelski to leave the game early and enter concussion protocol. There was no player safety hearing for Dumba.
With Bunting being a free agent at the end of this season, his future with the team is a complete unknown at this time.
