Rangers, Canes trade huge hits; both lead to injuries
The Rangers and Canes have gone back and forth all series with big, questionable hits. Tonight has been no different as the teams traded big hits in the second period, both of which caused an injury.
Like Jacob Trouba has done throughout his career, and earlier in the series, he threw another big, open ice hit, this time catching Seth Jarvis. Jarvis had just made a pass when Trouba hit him square in the chest with his shoulder. Jarvis has since not returned to the game. It does look like there is some head contact but, at least to me doesn't appear to be the principle point of contact. I'd be surprised if Trouba heard from Player Safety for it.
Somehow, Ryan Lindgren only missed a few shifts after taking the hit below from Nino Niederreiter. I don't know how that wasn't a separated shoulder or broken arm or something. Almost all of Neiderreiter's weight hit Lindgren's right shoulder and arm. It is slightly from behind, but primary contact is on the shoulder as Lindgren is turning into him, so don't expect Player Safety to be involved in this one either.
