Rangers trade enforcer Ryan Reaves
There had been some rumblings this week that the New York Rangers were contemplating moving veteran forward Ryan Reaves earlier this week after Reaves had spent several games as a healthy scratch. Now, per ESPN's Kevin Weekes, a deal has been struck.
Per Weekes, the Rangers have sent Reaves to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a draft pick. Weekes did not specify which round the draft pick would be in.
Reaves has played in just 12 games for the Rangers this season, recording no points and finishing his season in New York a -5 with just 3 shots on goal. Reaves, a 767-game NHL veteran has spent time in St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Vegas and New York, amassing 54 goals and 60 assists for 114 points, adding 992 PIMs.
The Wild continue to build their team with toughness as a core attribute that they appear to covet. They now boast the likes of Reaves, Ryan Hartman, Marcus Foligno and Jordan Greenway, among multiple other players who play with an edge to their game. They're going to be a tough out come playoff time.
