Remember Game 7 when John Tavares scored but it was called back because Justin Holl bumped into Anthony Cirelli? It's been seared into my brain as well. Holl got a minor for interference on that play and the Leafs were forced to play catch-up for longer than they should've.

Well, in last night's preseason game against Detroit, the Wings got away with the exact same play that cost the Leafs a goal in Game 7.

Yes, it was a preseason game, but that is not the issue. The issue is the lack of consistency from NHL officials. It shouldn't matter if it's preseason, regular season or playoffs, either call it consistently or don't call it at all.

That is the biggest issue with officiating. There are different rule books for different game situations because the league cares more about "game management" than it does enforcing the rules as they are written.
