The Edmonton Oilers have lost their last 7 consecutive games, losing 13 of their last 15 and are watching their playoff hopes slip away right before their eyes. The big question is and has now been for some time; "When will the Oilers make a coaching change?"

GM Ken Holland has stated recently that he doesn't believe that a coaching change is necessary, but at this point, even with his public niceties, he must be considering his options.

TSN's Ryan Rishaug is reporting on Friday that although a coaching change is not necessarily imminent, it has moved to more of a day-to-day situation. He also said that another loss on Saturday against the division rival Calgary Flames would likely force Holland's hand.

Dave Tippett came over to Edmonton ahead of the 2019-20 season and has had just two and a half seasons to right the ship for the Oilers, but has failed to do so. While the coach is responsible for implementing the game plan, the players are responsible for executing, which they just have not done well.

At the head of all of this is GM Ken Holland, who had the last 2 years to solve the goaltending problems in Edmonton. In my opinion, I don't necessarily think it's Tippett that needs to go.. I think it might be Holland. It will be interesting to see how this develops.
