With the Traverse City prospects tournament now officially wrapped up and out of the way, prospects have returned to Toronto and now, all eyes are on Maple Leafs training camp.

The Leafs finished the tournament with a 2-1 record, dropping their first game to the Columbus Blue Jackets in the tournament opener on Thursday before stringing together back-to-back wins against Dallas and Detroit on Friday and Sunday.

There were plenty of intriguing prospects in action for the Buds in this one, including Matthew Knies, Topi Niemela, Fraser Minten and 2023 1st rounder Easton Cowan, among others. As far as the standouts go, here were the leaders on the team for most of the important stat categories.

Goals: Brandon Lisowsky (4)Assists: Cowan, Minten, Tverberg (4)Points: Easton Cowan (6)Plus/minus: Mikko Kokkonen (+5)Shots: Ryan Tverberg (13)PIM: Cowan, Greenway (4)SV%: Dennis Hildeby (.931)

Easton Cowan was excellent in the tournament, having his fingerprints all over all 3 games for the Buds. He finished tied in the lead in assists, led the team in points, and tied with a tournament invitee in penalty minutes. He played big minutes for the Buds in all situations and even helped create a few scoring chances on the penalty kill.

The absence of Matthew Knies' name here is noticeable, but that's simply because Knies did not play in the 3rd and final game of the tournament, finishing with 3 assists in 2 games played. The Leafs were doing their best to limit his ice time in the tournament as well, as they likely did not want to risk an injury to their top prospect just before training camp. It is worth noting that Knies what slashed on the wrist in the first game of the tournament, though he finished that game and played against Dallas the next night as well.

On ice sessions will begin for Leafs training camp this week and I'm sure you'll see most of the aforementioned names on the ice for around a week before some are sent back to their junior clubs or reassigned to the Marlies.
