The Anaheim Ducks waited until the last possible moment before the 3pm deadline to pull the trigger on trading former 30-goal scorer Rickard Rakell for a 2nd round pick and a prospect.

A UFA at the end of the season, Rakell was picked up on Monday by the Pittsburgh Penguins and will provide the Pens with some much needed scoring help for Sidney Crosby, Evgeny Malkin, Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel with Jason Zucker still on IR.
Sitting 3rd in the Metro division, the Pens continue their playoff push going 7-2-1 over their last 10 and look to widen the game between them and the Capitals who currently hold the second wildcard spot.
For Rakell, this will be a fantastic opportunity for him to showcase his skills with two of the best centers in the world in Crosby and Malkin and boost his value in a contract year.
There were no shortage of suitors for Rakell's services, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have been linked to Rakell for a few seasons now.
