The Seattle Kraken walked away with a 3-2 shootout win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday and while the club's 11th win is worth celebrating, this win was just a little more significant for Kraken forward Ryan Donato. His girlfriend, Bradley Fusco, shared a story on Instagram following Monday's win to explain the significance.

Donato was very close with former NHLer Colby Cave and had maintained a strong bond with him stemming back from their days together as members of the Boston Bruins organization. Cave tragically passed away on April 11th, 2020 after being placed in a medically induced coma to treat a brain bleed that had occurred 4 days earlier.

Per Fusco, during the first meeting between the Seattle Kraken and the Edmonton Oilers this season, Cave's widow, Emily Cave gave Donato a gift - something of Colby's to keep with him this season as a bit of a good luck charm to keep him safe this season. One of Colby's ties that he wore on game day.

Donato's girlfriend was at the game in Seattle along with Emily Cave, and Donato thought it might be a good idea to wear the tie, in honour of Colby. He ended up scoring the game-tying goal in the 3rd period and added a goal in the shootout as well to help secure the victory.

I'm not an overly religious or spiritual person, but I found it to be quite a remarkable coincidence that Colby had passed away on April 11th and the Kraken just happened to secure their 11th win of the season with Donato's contributions. Another funny coincidence is that April 11th = 04/11. If you add those numbers together, it equals 15. Ryan Donato's goal was also his 15th point of the season.

While these might be and probably are random coincidences, Donato, Fusco and Cave's wife Emily definitely felt Colby's presence today.
