Don't look now, but Ryan Reaves has two fights in as many games as a Leaf under his belt already. The first, of course, being the lackluster tilt with Arber Xhekaj on Wednesday, which ended prematurely when Xhekaj pushed him over the Canadiens net. However, tonight's tilt was a much more entertaining battle against former teammate Marcus Foligno.
The fight occurred at the midway point of the 1st period after Reaves lined up Frederick Gaudreau and absolutely blew him up in open ice. Foligno took exception to the hit, throwing off his gloves and immediately pursuing Reaves.
The hit on Gaudreau was a clean one, body to body, and he did remain in the game and was not injured, thankfully. Reaves was not assessed a penalty for the hit and both he and Foligno were assessed the usual 5-minute fighting majors.
Honestly, I know the Reaves deal wasn't received overly well on the opening day of free agency, but this one is looking better and better every day.
