ESPN Insider Kevin Weekes has reported that a verbal agreement between the Sharks and Kane is in place. Frank Seravalli added to Weekes' tweet, stating that the Sharks will have a salary cap charge, and they will pay Kane a one-time lump sum of money.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman stated that the Sharks' original deal with him was $19 million in cash over the next three years and his deal now with Edmonton is $16.5 million. Friedman said that this would be addressed.
With this agreement in place, Kane can return to focusing on his on-ice play. Kane signed a one-year deal with the Oilers for the 21-22 season, and then his play during his initial opportunity earned him a four-year, $20 million contract extension in Edmonton this summer.
