Without Jake Muzzin for likely the entire season, Morgan Rielly and T.J. Brodie for the past three weeks and more recently, Jordie Benn, the Leafs have dressed 12 different defensemen on the season. Unfortunately, they will continue to play musical chairs with their defense corps as Victor Mete left last night's game against Dallas after he was hit along the boards by Jani Hakanpaa in the first period.

The good news for the Leafs is that TJ Brodie looks close to a return. He joined the team for practice on Monday and Sheldon Keefe has not ruled him out for Thursday's game. If in fact Brodie needs an extra day or two, Mac Hollowell would likely draw back in as following the game. Keefe provided an update on Mete late last night. Unfortunately, the news wasn't what many were hoping for.

"He's going to miss some time. We don't think it's going to be anything too serious, but I don't expect him to be available for us the rest of the week," said Keefe.

The Leafs continue to add to their league-leading 175 man games lost with the majority of them coming from the blueline and crease. As bad as that may seem, the Leafs have been able to "plug and play" a number of Marlies players seamlessly, which has helped them go 9-0-3 over their past 12 games.

We're FINALLY seeing the fruits of Kyle Dubas' labour on the draft floor. We have now seen 6 of the Leafs' 9 picks in 2018 play at least 1 NHL game. Kudos to these kids coming up, jumping right in and not looking lost out there. The prospect pool is deeper than it's been in ages and not a moment too soon.
