On Wednesday, it was unclear which Leafs might be given a day off before the start of the postseason. On Thursday, we know of at least 3 who will come out of the lineup, according to Sheldon Keefe. John Tavares, who was absent from practice on Thursday, was given a maintenance day and will play tomorrow against Boston.
Per Keefe, all of Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews and Jack Campbell will all sit out the Leafs' final game of the season to rest up before what will hopefully be a lengthy run.
Marner was given the choice between playing to try to get to 100 points on the season or taking the night off for some rest before the games really start to matter. Marner stated that it was a very tough decision to pass up a chance to get to 100 points, but he acknowledged that the playoffs are more important.
