It's every young hockey player's dream to one day make the NHL and compete for a Stanley Cup Championship, but very few are actually able to achieve that goal. Even players who do make the NHL and go on to have very decorated, even legendary careers can fall short. Players like Joe Thornton, Roberto Luongo, Jarome Iginla and, even further back, Marcel Dionne have been close, but just couldn't quite get it done. Now Jason Spezza knows what that feels like.
While Spezza was never able to hoist Lord Stanley's Cup over his head as a player, he is looking forward to embarking on the mission of winning a Cup as an NHL executive, though he admits that it may not feel too great to hang up the skates without getting a ring over a 19-year career, he remains fired up about the possibility of getting the job done in different capacity.
