The New York Islanders have been the quietest team in the NHL since free agency opened up on July 13th, but with Lou Lamoriello having his own unique way of doing things, perhaps the silence surrounding the Isles is actually a sign that a lot has been happening behind the scenes.

According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta on Monday, the Isles may be nearing the point of announcing a number of moves, including the Nazem Kadri deal, which Pagnotta believes is actually accurate. Pagnotta also stated that the Islanders could be doing some "house cleaning", meaning that there may be a contract or two on the move this summer to create room for the new additions.

Word has already begun to spread that there could be a contract extension done with RFA defenseman Noah Dobson, though there are no details to speak of and another RFA defenseman in the newly acquired Alexander Romanov also needs a new contract, as does RFA forward Kieffer Bellows. If Kadri is indeed on the cusp of inking a deal with the Isles, their $11.1M in cap space may not be enough to get it all done at once, hence the aforementioned "house cleaning".

Obviously, Lou is in full control over when the information reaches the airwaves and the social media sphere, but with training camp starting next month, it won't be long now until we see the news begin to trickle in. Since the Kadri news has already leaked, perhaps that's enough to make the dam burst.
