The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly interested in Leafs defenseman, Travis Dermott. Dermott likely played his final game as a Leaf last night and it appears that the 25-year-old could be heading out west. Dermott is still relatively young and has a cheap cap it. He needs a fresh start and that would be available in Vancouver.
The Leafs have been rumoured of having interest in Canucks forward, Tyler Motte and defender, Luke Schenn. Perhaps a package centered around these three players could be a deal that works for both sides. Dermott has the highest ceiling out of the three but having Schenn and or Motte would bolster two separate positions and likely get the Leafs closer to their goal of winning now.
That being said, Dermott would till be useful to the Canucks both now and in the future and he'd likely excel under Bruce Boudreau.
There seems to be mutual interest in players between the two clubs and perhaps the Leafs and Canucks can work out a deal within the next 24 hours. Only time will tell.
