During last night's game against the New Jersey Devils, the Leafs pulled off a brilliant come-from-behind win thanks in large to some late game heroics by Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews, who scored an early third period go-ahead goal and an eventual game-winning goal, respectively. Bowen's play calls on these two plays were spectacular.
The Leafs needed that win in the worst way, especially since the Tampa Bay Lightning also won last night. Marner's shorthanded tally and Matthews' game-winner maintained the 5-point cushion that the Leafs hold over the Lightning for 2nd in the Atlantic Division and preserved the lead in the race for him ice in round 1, at least for the time being.
