The usually cordial Marc-Andre Fleury was asked point blank about 2003 SA allegations, refused to answer
Former Vezina Trophy winner Marc-Andre Fleury is in an unfamiliar position following sexual assault allegations being brought up in relation to the 2003 Canadian World Junior team - a team that Fleury was a member of, along with players like Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau, Carlo Colaiacovo, Jordin Tootoo and most recently Daniel Paillé, who have all declared that they had no involvement in or any knowledge of the situation.
While participating at a charity event at the Videotron Center in Quebec City as a part of the Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron, Fleury was asked about the ordeal, with La Presse giving Fleury the opportunity to comment on the incident publicly. Fleury was unwilling to do so.
No comments, thank you.
-Fleury when asked to comment on the 2003 SA allegations against the Canadian World Junior team
Of course, Fleury refusing to comment was likely more about him not wanting to speak about the allegations while at a charity event, instead trying to keep the focus of the evening on the charity. Still, it will be intriguing to see what Fleury and his agent Allan Walsh have to say about the matter. As of this point, they have still yet to release a statement.
