Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson is usually someone who, when we discuss controversy, is near or at the center of the discussion. However, this time, Wilson is watching this one unfold from the sidelines, but showing his true colours and letting it be known where he stands on the subject of racism in hockey.

After Saturday's incident involving now former ECHLer Jacob Panetta and the younger brother of New Jersey Devils defender P.K. Subban, Jordan Subban, Tom Wilson took to social media to lend some support to Jordan in the wake of Panetta directing a racist gesture his way.

"These racist actions have no place in our sport or community and I stand with my friend Jordan Subban and the @SCStingrays," said Wilson on Twitter on Sunday.

Kudos to Wilson for doing what is right and using his platform to condemn acts of racism and promoting inclusivity within the game of hockey, a sport which should be for everyone.

Panetta was suspended indefinitely by the ECHL for his actions and subsequently released from his ECHL team.
