Top Leafs prospect continues to dazzle, adding 2 more points, including this highlight reel assist
Aside from the performance of Fraser Minten, perhaps the biggest surprise in training camp was the play of 18-year-old Easton Cowan. Fresh out of the draft, Cowan stuck around much longer than anyone had anticipated and, at one point, appeared to be a dark horse to earn a roster spot.
In the end, Cowan was returned to his junior club in London, as expected, and has been on an absolutely TORRID pace with the Knights, which is creating a lot of buzz and excitement among Leaf fans. His latest performance on Friday night against the Brantford Bulldogs is just the feather in the cap of an already stellar season for the youngster.
Cowan tallied a pair of assists on Friday, including this sensational dish to teammate Max McCue in overtime to seal the win for the London Knights. It's becoming glaringly obvious how good this kid is and why the Leafs took a swing on him late in the first round of the draft.
Cowan is now up to 5 goals and 14 points in just 8 games, having scored 2 game winning goals, 2 shorthanded goals and carrying a +7 +/- rating thus far this season. He has also dropped the gloves once and has 17 penalty minutes, so clearly, Cowboy has no problem getting his hands dirty if need be.
