Funny enough, when the Canucks pulled the goalie against the Leafs last night, my first thought was "when was the last time we saw a goalie goal?" Well, it happened last night, as the Minnesota Wild's top goaltending prospect and young phenom Jesper Wallstedt whipped a puck 200-feet into an empty Chicago Wolves net!
I can still remember watching Ron Hextall, Martin Brodeur (THREE TIMES) and Chris Osgood score goals and it was always exhilarating to see. Just for curiosity's sake I checked out when the last one was scored in the NHL and Wikipedia reminded me that Pekka Rinne did it in 2020.
While this one didn't occur in the NHL, it was still pretty wild to see - no pun intended.
