The Leafs lost Ilya Samsonov in their 2-1 win over the Bruins last night. Erik Kallgren entered the game to start the third after Samsonov notified the training staff of his knee injury. The injury occurred when Samsonov fell awkwardly on Brad Marchand's second period penalty shot. The good news is that it doesn't appear to be too serious of an injury as Samsonov did play the remainder of the second period.

The Leafs lost Nicolas Aube-Kubel earlier in the day on waivers, which ended up working out, opening up a contract slot. That contract slot was put to good use following the game as they inked Marlies goalie Keith Petruzzelli to a 2-year entry-level contract. The news was shared with his teammates following their game by Marlies head coach Greg Moore and the reaction is fantastic.

Petruzzelli will join the team in Carolina for this evening's game. He'll back up Erik Kallgren, who is expected to start.
