For a player in his second NHL season, Seider is very outspoken and was asked about Mitch Marner's current 16-game point streak this morning saying, "It's remarkable." Marner is currently 2 games away from matching the longest point streak by a Leaf, but Seider was confident in the Wings' ability to shut him and the rest of the Leafs' high-powered offense down, saying "We don't need to worry about any guys on the other team - we can match any of their skill. I'm pretty confident about that. It will be a cool match-up ... we don't need to hide anywhere."
That is a very bold statement from the 21-year-old to make, seeing as how the Wings struggled to contain the Leafs and particularly Marner last year. The Markham, ON product had 10 points in just 3 games against them. Both teams enter tonight on winning streaks with the Leafs having won 3 in a row and the Wings having won 4 in a row. It will be a battle between the Leafs' high-powered offense against Moritz Seider and the Wings tenacity and defense. The Leafs are currently 5 points up on the Wings for second in the Atlantic and are looking to close out a perfect road trip before returning home to take on the Sharks Wednesday.
