Pierre-Luc Dubois has been in the news lately, but certainly for the wrong reasons if you're a Jets fan. His agent publicly commented recently that Dubois intends to go to free agency two years from now and wants to play for the Montreal Canadiens. Talk about handcuffing your GM and not allowing him to receive fair value on the trade market.. tough look for Dubois and you can be your bottom dollar that Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff is not happy.
With that being said, Dubois accepted his 1-year qualifying offer a yesterday, which will pay him $6M. It can be assumed that he will do the same next season as well, so that he can in fact head to free agency and potentially control his destination.
While not many people in Winnipeg are fond of Dubois currently, media members appreciate how he has always been forthright and someone that "tells it like it is" when he has to answer questions. He is scheduled to do so on Monday via Zoom.
It will be interesting to see his answers to some of the questions he will most certainly be asked on Monday. I'd imagine the Winnipeg media will be coming at him with plenty of loaded questions, intending to walk away with smoking guns and some brutal headlines.
