It's been all quiet on the Zdeno Chara front this summer, but I'm sure there has been interest in the 45-year-old legend. At this point, the question is not whether or not Chara can still play, but rather does he still want to play?

Will Chara retire? Will he be back for one last playoff run? Well, according to The Toronto Sun's Steve Simmons, Chara could be preparing himself to announce his retirement after 1,680 career regular season NHL games.

The guessing around the NHL is that Zdeno Chara has played his last game. For those counting, that's 1,880 regular season and playoff games. A lifetime and then some for the future Hall of Famer

-Simmons on Chara's future

Chara played last season in Long Island, producing just 14 points in 72 appearances for the Islanders. At this stage of his career, he wouldn't be a regular in any NHL lineup, and if you ask any veteran player - especially those in the Hall of Fame conversation - there's nothing worse than sitting in the press box.

If Chara does indeed opt to call it a career, there's no question that he'll be a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer.
