New York Islanders defenseman Zdeno Chara may be 45 years old, but you don't need to look very hard to see the impact that he can still have in a game. During a Sunday afternoon meeting with the Carolina Hurricanes, we saw just that.

During a first period post-whistle skirmish, with his team down 2-0 early, Chara went after a trio of Carolina Hurricanes players to try to spark something for his team, striking Max Domi, Andrei Svechnikov and delivering a stiff left hand to Jordan Martinook that almost knocked him on his ass.

It's almost a crime that Chara won't be competing in the postseason this year. I was one of the proponents of the Leafs taking a swing and trying to acquire the former Bruins captain. Can you imagine a player of Chara's size and stature involved in the extracurricular activity after the whistle in Toronto?

In the end, the Leafs went out and swung a deal for former Flames and Kraken captain, Mark Giordano, which has worked out very well for the team so far. Chara in a Leafs jersey may have vaulted to the top of the list of photos that don't look natural anyway.
