The Toronto Maple Leafs walked away the champions of the 2018 free agency period with the John Tavares signing. With arguably the strongest center depth across the league, the team still needs to fill a hole on the wing. The team will miss James van Riemsdyk as JVR signed with the Philadelphia Flyers during free agency. If the team can't find a solution in house, Elliotte Friedman suggests the team could make another huge splash and really go "all in" for the 2018-19 season. While appearing on the NHL Network, Friedman speculated that the Leafs could make a run at Columbus Blue Jackets forward Artemi Panarin. Friedman admits there's no way the Leafs could sign Panarin to a contract extension, however it would be a huge addition as the team tries to capture the Stanley Cup for the first time in a very long time. While Panarin would be a perfect fit for the Leafs, we're not sure that general manager Kyle Dubas would be willing to give up Mitch Marner or William Nylander to land him.
