Auston Matthews appears in commercial to unveil new stick technology for CCM Hockey
Maple Leafs franchise cornerstone Auston Matthews unveils the newest tool in his arsenal, a new stick from CCM Hockey featuring new technology.
Tuesday morning saw CCM drop a teaser for their new stick, the 'Ribcor Trigger 9 Pro', featuring the Maple Leafs' new captain, Auston Matthews.
Matthews signed an exclusive deal with CCM four years ago and has been a prominent figure in their advertisements along with Connor McDavid since that time. Their newest commercial features the reigning Rocket Richard Trophy winner lining up at a face-off before quickly showcasing his off-ice training. Transitioning back to the ice, the commercial ends with Matthews showing off his patented quick release.
One thing that is notable about the commercial is that Matthews is still sporting an 'A' on his jersey, as it was shot before he was named the 26th captain in Maple Leafs franchise history in August. Matthews' first time hitting the ice with the 'C' came just a day after being named captain, and was also with CCM.
The kid from Scottsdale, Arizona will look to build off of a career-high 69-goal, 107-point campaign last season that saw him nab his third Rocket Richard Trophy. He's set to kick off the first year of the four-year extension he signed last August.
