Auston Matthews Comments On Beef With Babcock.
"On Thursday morning Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos went on Sportsnet 590 and made some big claims. The former NHLer claimed that Toronto Maple Leafs' head coach Mike Babcock had lost trust in his superstar Auston Matthews. Kypreos went on to state it's part of the reason why Babcock refused to place Matthews and Mitch Marner on the same line together. On Friday, Leafs players cleaned out their lockers and Matthews commented on both of Kypreos' claims. To start, Matthews stated reports that Babcock "lost him" are false and he's been upset by comments he's heard in the media last couple of days. He also stated his relationship with Babcock is fine. Matthews did however follow that up with a very interesting comment, he stated that he'd like to play more with Marner moving forward but that "he's not the one making lineup decisions". Some mixed signals by Matthews, but in the end, all looks fine in Leafs land. Auston Matthews says he'd like to play more with Mitch Marner in the future. Adds: «But I'm not making the lineup decisions.»

Auston Matthews said the reports that Mike Babcock «lost him» in the playoffs are totally untrue, wasn't pleased when he heard that in the media. Said his relationship with Babcock is good, but media will speculate as they choose.
