"The Toronto Maple Leafs were back on the ice at the MasterCard Centre as they prepare for tomorrow night's big game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Injured star Auston Matthews was on the ice today with his teammates, but was once against wearing the red non-contact sweater. Matthews skated for a few minutes before heading off the ice, so he will not be playing against the back-to-back Stanley Cup champions tomorrow.
Annnnd Auston Matthews is gone after 11 minutes of #Leafs practice. This has been another scintillating #MatthewsWatch3point0 update. — Kristen Shilton (@kristen_shilton) March 9, 2018
As of now, the earliest Matthews could return to the lineup is Wednesday night versus the Dallas Stars. After playing just one game in eight days, things will pick up for the Maple Leafs next week. The will also have games at the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday and back home against Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. In other news, it appears that Josh Leivo will draw in versus the Penguins tomorrow night. He took regular line rushes on the fourth line with Tomas Plekanec and Kasperi Kapanen. If he does suit up, it will be just his 15th game of the season and only his third of 2018. "
