The Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas have a very, very busy summer ahead. Toronto has to of course figure out what they're going to do with Jake Gardiner as he's a pending UFA, sign pending RFA Mitch Marner and also figure out a deal for Kasperi Kapanen. Kapanen like Marner will be RFA and many believe that Kapanen could be the victim of the upcoming Leafs cap crunch.Well there's some good news and the Leafs sound like they'll try and keep Kapanen around instead of moving him. TSN's Darren Dreger reports that Kapanen and the Leafs will hold "exploratory contract talks" next week. «Talk about the possibility of a multi-year extension, what about a bridge deal if the player is even remotely interested in that. Just kind of get that dialogue going. What I know is that teams are curious on the trade front and the Toronto Maple Leafs because of cap implications know that Kasperi Kapanen could be also an offer sheet threat if it gets to that point in the summer.» While it's far from done deal, it's at least some hope for Leafs' fans!
