Bissonnette, a former NHLer, current NHL on TNT analyst and a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, took to social media following the Leafs' 2-1 overtime win in Game 5 to antagonize the Bruins and remind them that they choked away a 3-1 series lead against Florida last season - something he hopes will happen again in this series.
Biz also rubbed some salt in the wounds of the fans in Boston that their starting goalie, Jeremy Swayman, was out-dueled by a rookie goaltender at the other end of the ice in Joseph Woll, who was spectacular in the win. He also pointed out that the Leafs were able to secure the victory sans Auston Matthews, who missed Game 5 after the team's doctors did not clear him to compete.
Bissonnette is very open about his Leafs fandom. Just last season, prior to the acquisition of Ryan O'Reilly, Bissonnette predicted that the Leafs would win consecutive Stanley Cups, proclaiming that it was their time. Obviously, that's not how things worked out, but the Leafs did take a small step forward last year, actually winning a playoff round - something Bissonnette and every other Leafs fan hopes they can accomplish again this year.
It will be an uphill battle for the Leafs in this series, even after a big win against the Bruins in Game 5. They'll still need to win consecutive games on Thursday and this weekend to avoid being eliminated from the playoffs in Round 1.
