"The Toronto Maple Leafs are going to be looking for a defenseman at this year's trade deadline. It's not a secret and teams will definitely be looking to take advantage of the Leafs who are considered "desperate for defensive help". NHL insider Bob McKenzie confirmed the trade chatter that any team willing to trade with the Leafs wants one of Kasperi Kapanen, Andreas Johnsson or Alexander Kerfoot.McKenzie also gave some more details about what exactly the Leafs' are looking for. "I believe the Leafs are actively looking for a RD/LD who can play right with multiple years of term left. At least one+ year, but would prefer 2+ years remaining." McKenzie reported recently on TSN 1050. The Maple Leafs of course have no significant defenseman signed beyond this year aside from Morgan Rielly. Tyson Barrie, Cody Ceci and Jake Muzzin will all be UFA this summer however there's been some talk that Muzzin is discussing a possible extension with the Leafs.
