Without Auston Matthews, the Leafs entered game five hoping to extend their season by one game at least. Down 3-1 in the series, the Leafs played a near perfect road game. With some timely and massive saves from Joseph Woll, the Leafs capitalized on a fortuitous bounce in overtime that led to Matthew Knies scoring the game-winner just 2:26 into the extra frame.
After an enthusiastic celebration from Knies and the rest of the Leafs, cameras panned up to the rafters where Leafs' GM Brad Treliving and President Brendan Shanahan were sitting. The cameras caught Shanahan leap out of his seat before embracing Treliving in a quick 'dap' and hug.
For Shanahan, the exuberant celebration was likely a combination of the Leafs extending the series and getting to live another day as the President of Hockey Operations. Game six goes Thursday in Toronto, where the Leafs will look to snap their five-game home losing streak in the playoffs and force the Bruins into another game seven.
