Mitch Marner's security detail has become very active on Instagram, defending him while making questionable comments about his teammates, leading some to believe that Marner may finally want out.

During the season, while recovering from his ankle sprain, Marner made some comments towards the members of the Toronto media that were not received all that well and they seemed to be the beginning of a feud taking place behind the scenes. Marner did not speak after the Leafs Game 7 loss to the Boston Bruins and made only a brief appearance at Monday's end of season interviews.

Recently, The Athletic's James Mirtle revealed that Marner hired private security and has only granted permission to certain reporters to speak to him. Mirtle also claimed that Marner's security detail has made it a point to try to intimidate certain members of the media in Toronto.

It appears that things have escalated as his private security «Rocket Security» is now going to battle online to defend his honour on Instagram comment sections. Not only that, but the account has also called out some of Marner's own teammates.

»Who else steps up for them in the playoffs. I'll wait,» said one of the comments from Rocket Security.

Defending a client is one thing, but to call out his teammates is out of line and could potentially drive a wedge between Marner, Auston Matthews, William Nylander and the rest of the roster.

Should the comments from his security team continue, it may also accelerate his exit from Toronto. Nonetheless, Leaf fans will be watching Marner and the Leafs closely this off-season to see how many steps forward or backward they take.
