The Oilers are on the cusp of being swept by the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals tonight, but according to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, win or lose, it is McDavid and Draisaitl's intentions to re-up in Edmonton long-term.
This report jives with another report from Oilers beat reporter Bob Stauffer that the Oilers have already begun working on the preliminary details and the framework of Draisaitl's next contract.
McDavid and Draisaitl were drafted by the Oilers in consecutive seasons, with Draisiatl going 3rd overall in 2014 and McDavid going 1st overall in 2015.
The pair have had tremendous careers in Edmonton thus far, with Draisiaitl racking up 850 points in 719 career regular season games and McDavid tallying a whopping 982 points in 645 career regular season games with the Oilers.
Stats aside, after reaching the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in their careers, it would make sense for McDavid and Draisaitl to want to continue on in Edmonton.
