Craig Berube promises big changes in how the Leafs will play
On Tuesday, new head coach Craig Berube described the type of team he intends to turn the Toronto Maple Leafs into and how he expects them to play.
The Leafs officially introduced Berube as their new head coach on Tuesday after they agreed to terms on a contract on Friday afternoon. Berube, along with General Manager Brad Treliving and President of Hockey Operations Brendan Shanahan met with the media today, where they fielded a handful of questions related to the coaching search, what Berube brings to the club and the style he wants the Leafs to play under his guidance.
"We don't want to be out-worked - ever. It's all about the team. Everybody's important, everybody has to be used, they all have roles. We want to play a north game, be fast, be a heavy team. Not running guys and fighting, but you have to be strong and win puck battles."

The style of play and the team that Berube wants the Leafs to be is directly in line with the type of roster Treliving wants to build - specifically on the back end. Treliving said last year during his introductory press conference that he wanted to get "bigger" and "longer". It will be interesting to see how much input Berube has in the makeup of what is expected to be a vastly different roster compared to this past season.
