The Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking to strengthen their blueline this summer and one of the biggest pending free agents is an elite defenseman. However unfortunately for the Leafs, he won't be willing to negotiate with them. Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun revealed that defenseman Erik Karlsson wants to come back to Canada and play close to Ottawa. Karlsson's wife Melinda is from Ottawa and wants to move back home.Brennan reports that Karlsson is hoping to receive competitive offers from the Senators and Montreal Canadiens this summer, however adds that Karlsson has no interest in playing for the Leafs or Buffalo Sabres which are both pretty close to Ottawa. The report also mentions the New York Rangers as possible suitors for the free agent defenseman. Karlsson would give the Leafs a huge boost on the power play and strengthen the right side of the defense. It might be a good thing Karlsson doesn't want to play in Toronto though considering it would probably take a 6-7 year contract offer and the 29 year old has been dealing with major injury issues the last three years. Would you have like to see Karlsson in a Leafs' uniform?
