After firing Sheldon Keefe earlier this week, the Toronto Maple Leafs and GM Brad Treliving made it known that they would exhaust all options and expedite the process so that they did not lose out on the available replacements such as the favourite, Craig Berube, as well as other candidates like Todd McLellan.
It appears the search has picked up as former Oilers and Kings head coach Todd McLellan was spotted boarding a plane from LA to Toronto today.
McLellan is believed to be the first of what should be a lengthy list of interviewees for the now vacant position. Once Treliving and the Leafs decide on their new head coach, we will have more clarity about the rest of the coaching staff and who will stay and who will go.
McLellan was fired earlier this season from the LA Kings after 5 seasons. Prior to coaching the Kings, McLellan spent 4 years in Edmonton and 7 seasons behind the bench in San Jose.
