Joel Quenneville had something very important to say about the Toronto Maple Leafs during an appearance on Leafs Morning Take this week.

Even though Joel Quenneville's coaching career was marred in controversy as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, his record speaks for itself, no matter how you look at it. So, when he speaks, listening to what he's saying is advisable, if you're in the business of winning championships.

Recently, Quenneville was a guest on the Leafs Morning Take podcast hosted by Nick Alberga and former Maple Leaf Jay Rosehill. He was asked about his feelings on how the Toronto Maple Leafs have been constructed, and although his answer felt a little predictable, it's likely that his answer will surprise some. He believes that the Maple Leafs, as currently constructed, have what it takes to win a Stanley Cup.

Coach Q has been around the block a few times and has tasted success. His dissection as he explains the 2024-25 Maple Leafs is an opinion, but he makes several key points as to how the team looks better now versus last season and believes they have what it takes to win.

Appreciating that the Maple Leafs haven't won a Stanley Cup since 1967 and that the team is long overdue for a championship, being a fan of the franchise can be daunting at times. There have been years where fans have bought into the false hope that the team should be able to compete and time and time again, they've failed.

As much as being a fan is tough, the team itself has a ton of pressure on it to win. Whether the Core Four can help propel them to win with the additions they made over the summer remains to be seen. However, if a coach like Quenneville likes what was added over the summer including the hiring of a successful coach in Craig Berube, Leafs Nation should remain optimistic, but not get ahead of themselves. It doesn't make sense to plan the parade in October.
