Yes, it's still very early in the 2024-25 NHL season, but the Toronto Maple Leafs are stagnant so far when it comes to the power play. That said, veteran Max Pacioretty, who will likely get a chance on the team's top power play line in the next game due to William Nylander being out with an illness, believes there's nothing to worry about.
With William Nylander missing from practice, Max Pacioretty was placed on the Maple Leafs' top power play unit. The team is 0-9 so far on the season with the man advantage, but Pacioretty says it's really not a concern.
Toronto Maple Leafs' head coach Craig Berube benched Pacioretty for much of the third period in the Leafs' home opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins, despite the Maple Leafs' win. He was also taken off the first power play unit in that game, but appears to be getting another chance as he continues his comeback from some major injuries.
Meanwhile, Berube was forced to quell additional concerns regarding goaltender Joseph Woll after he left practice after just a few minutes today. Berube said Woll is improving and should join the team for practice tomorrow morning, so there's another potential boost for the Buds on the horizon.
