With Friday's deadline looming, the Leafs placed Reaves on waivers on Thursday to free up approximately $1.15M in cap space. It certainly isn't enough to make a massive move on its own, but the move gives Brad Treliving more flexibility and could be setting up for a large-scale move.
Reaves has skated in just 35 games this season for the Leafs this season, collecting only 2 assists and one fight.
With the return of Calle Jarnkrok up front, Leafs head coach Craig Berube has like what he has seen from the newly formed fourth line of Jarnkrok, David Kampf and Steven Lorentz, leaving no room for Reaves, even against a tough, physical opponent like the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday night.
