"After winning a tight season opener against the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 on Wednesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs struggled against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. Another slow start resulted in the Sens jumping out to a 3-0 lead and while the Leafs' pushed back, they couldn't get it done in the third losing 3-2. While Leafs' goalie Petr Mrazek helped the team bounce back a bit during the second period, he eventually suffered a groin injury forcing Jack Campbell back into action on the second straight night. A bad habit of slow starts has the Leafs 1-1 on the season wishing they started both games the way they finished on Thursday night. Unfortunately there was a momentum killer at the end of Thursday's game as John Tavares got called for hooking in the dying minutes, a penalty Tavares called "brutal" after the game. Head coach Sheldon Keefe agrees. «We've seen the memos on [enforcing] the cross-checks, and the guys are well aware of that. They're adjusting to that,» Keefe said. «But I haven't seen the memos on not being able to lift guys' sticks.»What do you think of Keefe's comments? Check out the play again below:
