According to Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk have a mutual interest in a deal.
As the Leafs continue to grind away with Tyler Bertuzzi in the hopes of being able to sign him long-term, they are keeping their eyes on potential replacements with one of them being another Jake DeBrusk.
"The Leafs continue to look at all options when it comes to their top six forwards next season. There's word they may have interest in pending Bruins free-agent Jake DeBrusk," wrote Kypreos.
Further to Kypreos' report, "Leafs Morning Take" host Nick Alberga revealed that over this past weekend that DeBrusk shares an interest in joining the Leafs should he not return to the Bruins.
DeBrusk has 11 points in 17 career regular season games against the Leafs, but has destroyed them in the playoffs with 14 points in 21 games. DeBrusk can play in all situations and is not scared to play physically despite him only being 6'0 and 190 pounds, registering 105 hits this past season along with 19 goals and 40 points.
