Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe has officially switched his agency affiliation right before he is eligible to sign new contract.

McCabe has 1 year reaming on his deal that pays him a 4M AAV per season. The Toronto Maple Leafs have him at a cap hit of only 2M per year, as the Chicago Blackhawks had retained 50% of his contract when they traded him to Toronto.

McCabe will not be the only Leafs player represented by Bartlett hockey, as Bobby McMann is also signed with the agency. McMann recently signed an extension with the Leafs that will pay an AAV of 1.35M per season.

McCabe has been a solid defender for the Maple Leafs. The Wisconsin native is coming off an impressive season where he notched a career high 28 points in 73 GP. While McCabe is not known for his point production even though he can still chip in offensively, he is known for being a great checker, and plays very sound defensively.

The Leafs have a very thin blue line currently, making McCabe even more valuable to the team. McCabe is currently number 2 on the teams defensive depth chart.

Brad Treliving is about to have a very busy offseason, and extending Jake McCabe should be high on his priorities list.
