"The Toronto Maple Leafs offseason continues and while we expect to see them lose some pieces off the roster, they might lose a key piece behind the bench as well. According to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, the Ottawa Senators have reached out to the Toronto Maple Leafs regarding the search for their new head coach. The Senators fired Guy Boucher on March 1st and had Marc Crawford serve as interim head coach, however he won't be sticking around. Ottawa contacted the Leafs recently to interview assistant coach DJ Smith for their head coaching position. Smith has been Babcock's assistant for the last four seasons and was the OHL's Oshawa Generals head coach before that, taking home the Memorial Cup in 2015.
