Leafs Fan and Hockey Dad Wins Halloween After Creating Unreal Auston Matthews Costume for Son

With Halloween fast approaching, one young Toronto Maple Leafs fan is the envy of every other fan in his age range after his dad made him an unbelievable Auston Matthews 2024-25 Upper Deck card costume.

Matthews, who was named captain of the Maple Leafs this summer, immediately became a fan favourite after being drafted first overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and has given fans of this generation plenty to cheer about over the years thus far. Matthews is well on his way to becoming one of the greatest Leafs of all time, if not THE greatest, so it's no surprise that kids would request Auston Matthews Halloween costumes. This one, however, takes the cake.

While most would opt for something a little more traditional, like a skeleton, vampire or something of that nature, and others may opt for something a little more on trend, like a Wolverine or Deadpool costume, some kids just think outside of the box. An Auston Matthews costume is certainly outside of the box.

The Leafs' franchise cornerstone is off to a bit of a slower start than expected in 2024-25 thus far, having scored just 4 goals through 9 games heading into tonight's matchup with the Jets. Still, even with a slow start, it's hard to imagine a scenario in which Matthews doesn't surpass the 50-goal plateau once again -- perhaps even his 3rd 60-goal season.
