The Toronto Maple Leafs and long-time front office executive Laurence Gilman have agreed to mutually part ways with his contract expiring at the end of the month.

TSN's Pierre LeBrun revealed yesterday that the Leafs and Gilman mutually agreed to part ways, with LeBrun believing that he will be highly sought after given his track record and experience.

The 59-year-old joined the Leafs in 2018 as an assistant GM and GM of the Leafs' AHL affiliate the Toronto Marlies which he held until 2021. Gilman remained with the Marlies, acting as the governor and senior VP of hockey operations when Kyle Dubas hired Ryan Hardy to take over the GM duties.

Prior to joining the Leafs, Gilman was part of the expansion draft rules and regulations committee that designed the rules ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights expansion draft. Gilman has been around the NHL since the late 90's when he was director of hockey operations for the Arizona Coyotes and has also spent time working for the Vancouver Canucks organization.
